News and Notes: September 21, 2009

Some items of note:

Crab Orchard Review has received a Illinois Arts Council Program Grant for Fiscal Year 2010 in the amount of $4300. Given that the arts council has suffered tremendous budget cuts recently, it's quite amazing to have received that amount. Kudos to Jon Tribble for writing the grant proposal.

Poems by Paul Guest (MFA '99) appear in the new issue of BOMB (Number 109, Fall 2009). The poems ("Above" and "Invitation") are in Bomb's Literary Supplement.

"Mr. Blues," Allison Joseph's poetic tribute to the unsung early R&B singer Wynonie Harris, appears in the new issue of North American Review.

Fiction faculty member Pinckney Benedict's graphic fiction "Orgo Vs. The Flatlanders" appears in the new issue of the Idaho Review.
